Week of November 17th-21st

Wednesday:
Today's List:
    Go over homework from yesterday.
Notes over 5.4, Medians and Altitudes.  Download here (finish Altitudes tomorrow).
Create centroids using paper in class.
    HW:  pg. 324 #3-10, pg. 316 #19, 20

Tuesday:
Today's List:
Take notes from 5.3, Angle Bisectors.  Download here.

Construct angle bisectors of a triangle on paper.
  1. Use a provided triangle.
  2. Fold the angles in half (side to side) to create "angle bisectors".
  3. The three bisectors should intersect at one point.  Name this point the incenter.
  4. Use this link to help find points to create the inscribed circle. Do this for one side of the triangle.
  5. You will now draw the inscribed circle.  Use the incenter as the "holding point" for your compass and then use the new point you found in step #4 for the pencil marking.
  6. Draw in the complete circle.
  7. What do you notice about the three sides of the triangle and your circle?  Discuss with your table.
    HW:   pg. 315 #3-20

Monday:
Today's List:
Finish notes from yesterday and work on homework, pg. 308 #3-17.
        Notes can be downloaded here.

    GSP Activity:
  1. Open up your Chapter 5 Project GSP.  Go to page Angle Bisector.
  2. Create a point on the angle bisector.
  3. Choose the new point and one of the outside rays of the angle and construct a perpendicular line.
  4. Create a point where the perpendicular line intersects the outside ray of the angle.
  5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 with the other side of the angle.
  6. Click on both perpendicular lines.  Choose Display --> Hide Perpendicular Lines.
  7. Now construct 2 segments, each going from the point on the outside ray to the point on the angle bisector.  MAKE SURE TO USE THE NEW POINT AND NOT THE ORIGINAL POINT YOU USED TO MAKE THE ANGLE.
  8. Measure the 2 segments you constructed in step 7.
  9. Write a conjecture about your findings.  Write in a complete sentence.
Work on AM until everyone is finished with homework!
